Colin is a Consultant to Maddox Planning, bringing 30 years’ experience across local authority planning and private consultancy. He has particular expertise in development control and development management and has worked across a wide range of planning matters, giving him a strong understanding of how policy, process and practical judgement come together in decision-making.
His career includes 15 years in local government, where he progressed to senior managerial level, followed by a further 15 years in consultancy. That combination gives Colin a broad perspective on the planning system from both the public and private sectors, as well as extensive experience interpreting policy, assessing development proposals and communicating complex planning issues clearly.
Colin is known for his practical judgement, professionalism and client-focused approach. He brings strong presentation and communication skills to projects and is particularly effective at identifying the key planning issues, explaining them clearly and helping clients and project teams navigate a route towards successful outcomes.
