Mike is a Consultant to Maddox Planning, bringing more than four decades of senior-level experience across local government, consultancy and national planning policy. A Chartered Town Planner and MBA-qualified manager, he has worked on major housing, growth and regeneration projects and brings a deep understanding of how planning policy, governance and delivery interact in practice.
He began his planning career with the Greater London Council in 1974 and later held senior roles in local government, including serving as Head of Planning at the London Borough of Croydon until 2015. During that time he was involved in major programmes of development and regeneration, with work recognised nationally for its quality and impact.
Mike now advises across the public sector, supporting authorities and organisations seeking to improve planning performance, decision-making and development outcomes. He is a former President of the Planning Officers Society and remains an experienced and influential voice in UK planning, bringing strategic perspective alongside a detailed understanding of how the system operates on the ground.
